Each class starts with a market tour of la Boquería, where ingredients are picked out depending on the season. During the tour, the instructors will share their tips about picking out the best ingredients and discuss local culinary customs, offering tips and techniques that you can take home with you.

Their kitchen is a short walk away in El Raval. With a maximum of 8 people per class, the experience is incredibly authentic and intimate. What you will actually cook depends on the season, but there are always at least two main dishes, several tapas and a produce board. Ella and Alberto are also very accommodating with allergies and dietary requirement and will ensure that the delicacies you create fit to your tastes.

Barcelona Paella Experience

True to its name, Barcelona Paella Experience invites travellers to learn how to make Spain’s most celebrated dish in a fun, interactive and welcoming environment in the heart of Eixample.

Participants will make either a chicken, vegetarian or seafood paella (depending on preferences) and also learn to make sangria and a ‘Crema Catalana’ dessert. Alternatively, sign up to their tapas class which teaches travellers how to make mostly meat and seafood-based tapas. These include calamares encebollados, featuring squid, onions and white wine, and Esqueixada, a Catalan salt cod salad. Meat options include a Sobrassada sausage dish or Butifarra ‘esparracada’, which deliciously combines pork sausage, onion, mushroom and pine nuts. Spanish tortillas are also available on the menu of options.

Both the paella and tapas classes include a market tour, where you can meet local vendors and pick out fresh ingredients for your meal. Part of this experience also includes tasting local delicacies at the market to get a feel for the flavours of the city.

At the end of the course, recipes are shared with participants, allowing you to bring the tastes back home with you.
